A Lovely Evening

On Friday night we decided to go to Zilker Park and show Em the natural hot springs (which were closed due to flooding), the greenery, and the river. When we got there we were pleasantly surprised to find that the Austin Civic Orchestra was about to play in the amphitheater. I was probably the happiest, considering I love these kinds of things. We were, however, wary of how long Beth would last on a blanket on the grass.

Luckily, we had her beloved baby (thanks Grandma Jensen) and she surprised us by sitting right by us and laying down on the huge quilt (thanks again Grandma Jensen) when we laid down. We were able to stay the whole first half, which was more than we thought possible. They were playing a space theme and we heard the theme from The Space Odyssey and Star Trek.

Overall it was a lovely evening, even if it was a little muggy for a summer evening. I was so happy to catch something like this and it reminded me of the few times I was able to go to Deer Valley and listen to the Utah Symphony years ago. I loved doing that and Lance has said that once we are in Utah actually making money I will hopefully find myself among the ritzy, wine drinking, music lovers of Deer Valley once again.
