I don't really have anything of importance or even remotely interesting to tell anyone. These past couple of weeks have been filled with Lance studying for his final and finishing his first patent. He has been willing to watch Beth while he has been home and studying (bless his heart!), while I run errands, which is always easier without a toddler. Last Sunday I was released from being a ward missionary, which I didn't shed tears about, and was called to the 1st counselor in the Young Womans. I am excited for this new calling and wish I didn't have to go through the whole "getting to know everyone" stage. We are loosing advisors left and right and so I feel that I am going to be doing a lot of teaching until they fill up the "staff" again. Luckily I missed girls camp... camping in Texas isn't my idea of fun... and so now I just have to participate in chaperoning stake dances and helping with the small task of performing Saviour of the World next year!
I did get to go shopping with a couple of friends at the outlet stores (100 stores) this past week. It was wonderful and of course I found great deals...thanks to A Children's Place and Old Navy...and who can pass those up even if you don't have any money? Of course it was 10 times better because both Melissa and Nichelle had their sweet children and mine was left at home :) Beth just doesn't appreciate shopping like her mom. Needless to say she was the benefactress of the trip. Little girl clothes are so hard to resist.
As many of you have heard on the news Texas has been flooding this past week. Marble Falls, which is 40 miles NW of us, got 19" of rain in 8 hours. It was unbelievable. We are safe and sound here in South Austin but all of our lakes and rivers are closed due to flooding. One of our favorite walking trails at the edge of Town Lake, which separates town from the rest of the city, is currently completely under water.
Here is a video someone took of Town Lake this past week. You can tell its a bit full!

Because the studying is finally done for a week (Lance starts up again for his second session of summer school on the 9th of July) we get to do all the things we have put off this past week. Such fun things as cleaning the house, dusting the ceiling cans, Walmart (yucky on a Saturday), going to Blockbuster and getting a good old western with John Wayne (this is my idea of a good Saturday night...), and finding Lance some jeans.
I am looking forward to Lance being home all this next week. We plan on having a BBQ and watching fireworks on the 4th....although the forecast calls for rain. Even as I speak, or type, the clouds are rolling in once again and I plan on seeing rain within hours. I will continue reading my book, Rebecca, and see whether the main character can get over her insecurities about being the second Mrs. de Winters. I will try to get Beth out of the house a few times to keep us all sane. I will try to support Lance in whatever he wants to do with his week off, even if it means reading the newspaper everyday for hours and not paying attention to me at all times :) Wish me luck...
