This year for Thanksgiving we went to Houston to spend a couple of days with Lance's aunt and uncle. Needless to say it was "all right" and not quite what we had in mind... not to say we weren't grateful to be invited, fed, and housed...but just not our traditional Thanksgiving. My ideal Thanksgiving includes:
* Dinner in the middle of the day (not at 6pm)
* Real cranberries (not maroon jelly looking stuff still in the shape of the can it came out of )
* My mom's fabulous stuffing (although artichoke stuffing was interesting)
*Hot rolls (not cold, store bought rolls from the bag)
*Appetizers (like pickles, veggies, stuffed celery, olives, chips and dip, etc.)
*Pumpkin Pie (Lance's aunt made a lovely pumpkin pie :)
*Visiting and chatting with family around the table (Not all running off to play video games that had put on hold for the 10 minutes of eating)
* Getting somewhat ready for the day (meaning everyone at the table had actually made an effort to change out of what they had slept in)
* A nice evening of visiting, eating, and watching a movie or playing games together
Now of course this is my "IDEAL" Thanksgiving so I didn't expect all of this... but who can resist wanting what they have grown up with, especially around the holidays.

Lance, Beth, and I at the park Thanksgiving day...man was it cold....in the upper 40's ... I'm turning into a "Texas-Wuss-Face".
Beth and Lance going down the slide at the park....I was to cold and to fat to participate.
We also visited the San Jancinto Monument on the way home. This is where Texas won its independence from Mexico... BIG deal to the Texans! The monument itself looks identical to the Washington monument in D.C.... just a foot taller as to not be outdone by anyone.
Overall it was a nice weekend and fun to get away for a little while. We came home Friday night and watched our Horatio Hornblower video and ate KFC (who can get enough poultry on Thanksgiving weekend).
Saturday we watched a tragic football game between the Y and the U. Saturday night I gave in and put up our Christmas decorations while Lance watched MORE football.
Sunday both Lance and I taught and then went to the Burton's, yet again, for Melissa's birthday dinner. I have to thank them for the evening because it was such a lovely way to end the weekend. Their Christmas decorations were up, they had a fire in the fireplace, we had a great meal, and we just enjoyed visiting while Beth slept upstairs in her "bed-away-from home".
After an ending like that it was hard to face Monday :)
We hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and look forward to hearing all about your Christmas holiday season....
Happy Shopping...

love this post! beth gets cuter every day. and I would know 'cause I see her every day! :) oh yeah, and YOU get cuter every day too! or should I say Baby Izzy gets cuter every day?
p.s. I just realized that Lance probably feels left out now, so you can tell him that Leif thinks HE gets cuter every day. It might be weird if I said it. :) Let's just say there's a whole lot of cute goin' on at the Jensens!
Sounds like you had a lot of fun, Lance is the long horn hat going to turn into the hat that brian wore althroughout school? IF soo I hope rach does a better job at cleaning it then I did with brians!
