Well this week is finally here! I have been "planning" the week before Christmas for quite a while now. Because my family will be arriving Saturday and we are expecting a baby next month I have had it in my plans to "spring clean" the apartment this week. I have been slowly chipping away at cleaning drawers, cupboards, closets, etc. in hopes that by the end of this week, with Lance's help after his final Wednesday, our apartment will be the model of perfection. Of course I have this surreal plan of the house being spotless, ALL the couch cushions being ON the couch, and the house smelling of wondrous Christmas goodies when my family walks through the door...
YEA RIGHT!!
Along with cleaning this week there, of course, seems to be the usual bustle before Christmas....the finishing touches on wrapping (I did most of ours last Monday with help from Karen Carpenter for mood), visiting teaching (as usual December continues to be a "drop off a gift" month), making sure I get EVERYTHING I need at the grocery store the FIRST time I go, Christmas cards sent off (thanks for the addresses everyone!), I have a Dr. appointment on Friday, I need to finish the last minute finishing touches on the quiet book I made for Beth (a.k.a. surging pages), and running around delivering gifts to Beth's nursery leaders. Needless to say I don't anticipate being bored at all this week. Call me crazy but I kinda look forward to these crazy weeks because they keep me busy... but doing things I like to do (a.k.a cleaning, organizing, and finishing touches with Christmas)
For all of you who got to go home this Christmas... enjoy the cold, the family parties, and the traveling. I hope you are all safe and have a FABULOUS Christmas! For those of you who are staying at home this year, have fun starting your own traditions, making your own food, and having your own parties...and enjoy NOT having to fly half the house home :)
I hope you all get everything done you need to this week...wish me the same luck!
Merry Christmas!

I'm afraid that 'St. Nick' and I might be out of place in a "spotless" place... Might have to dirty it up some to be comfortable! (However, we don't have any trouble getting into the smell of tasty cuisine cooking.) We're all mostly looking forward to the great company and being together!
When does your family get in? I wish I could convince my family to come to us one Christmas... How lovely to not have to TRAVEL for the holidays, but still get to be with family!
Now Rach, don't do too much cleaning-- I know you don't want a Christmas baby! Hope you're feeling okay!
It sounds like you have a sewing machine and a serger? How wonderful!! You are so good--getting gifts prepared and delivered to VT people and nursery leaders and what not. Good for you, I need to do that too! BTW I need your address!
