Last night my friends in our ward threw me a baby shower. I was kinda surprised at the offer because I always thought you were given 1 shower for your first baby and then after that you were on your own. Needless to say I grew up in Utah, where you wouldn't be able to afford all the shower gifts if they threw everyone a shower for every child. Here in Texas I guess they figure they can handle a shower every few months... not every few days. I was most grateful for the love and support I received from the friends who came. I got some darling stuff, a lot of diapers (thank goodness), and an evening to relax and be the center of attention...
Now you might all think I would enjoy being the center of attention, I always have before, but at showers I always feel guilty asking people to leave their homes and families and come give me gifts. I'm not a huge fan of showers myself and so I hate making people feel obligated to come to mine. Maybe that is why I am just so grateful for the women who DID come and support me in my second child, even though I clearly have enough little girl clothes and such :)
It was a fun night and fun to handle all the little newborn stuff as well. These things keep reminding me that I will have a newborn baby in my life in two weeks and I am so excited.
I plan on going the full 39 /40 weeks, as does my body, so don't start holding your breath yet... as I know you all are because you don't have any better things to do than wait for Rach to have her baby :)
We'll keep you "posted" (literally)

Thats one thing great about not living in utah! My friends threw me a shower for lyndsey it was great. I loved getting new stuff for her, because everything else she would be useing would be used! I bet it was nice to get stuff that you would need, that is in the right season! I hope you don't go all 40 weeks!
