Whirlwind Weekend

This past weekend I had the opportunity of flying home to Utah to attend my uncle's wedding. Umm.... did I mention that I was ALONE :) Lance offered to watch the girls while I went and had weekend home with my family.

Wednesday: My flight got into Salt Lake City around 7:30pm. When I left Austin it was 85 degrees. When I got to Utah it was 30 degrees... Brrr....

Thursday: I slept in without any little girls to wake me up. I had a haircut appointment at 10:30 am. After I dropped my mom off at grandma's I went to run errands.....ALONE! I even treated myself to a Jamba Juice. My mom and I went home around 4ish to make and eat dinner. Then we headed out to the mall for more shopping. Needless to say after getting home around 9:30 we were ready for bed.... but not before a good old Bob Hope movie and some popcorn :)

Friday: Another day of sleeping in. Then I met my mother in law and three sister-in-laws for lunch at Chili's. After a lovely lunch I headed off to Valley Fair mall for an hour of desperate looking for a shirt for the wedding. After successfully finding one on sale I headed home to grandma's to get my mom. I was able to take a nap at grandma's (2 days of shopping had worn me out!) and then head home to get ready for the evening. My sister, Em, came home from Utah State and my whole family went out to dinner at Costa Vida (one of my favorites!) and then to the Pioneer Memorial Theater to see Noises Off.

Saturday: We were able to attend my Uncle Brent's wedding in the Salt Lake Temple. It was such a special experience considering my uncle is 65 and getting married for the first time. He was SO happy and it was all just a little to emotional for me. After a lovely luncheon at the Lion House and visiting with cousins we don't see very often my mom, Em, and I went home and crashed. My mom thought it would be nice to have a mini Thanksgiving dinner while I was home. Unfortunately because we didn't put the turkey in until late we didn't end up eating until around 9:30.... but it was a lovely dinner, complete with stuffing and cranberries... not to mention a little football :)

Sunday: This day was spent recouping from the weekend and watching my flight get delayed farther and farther. It ended up being delayed 2 hours, which meant I missed my connecting flight in Denver. I got to spend the night at a Crystal Inn in Denver all by my lonesome :(
I caught the first flight out of Denver to Austin on Monday, which wasn't until 11:30. I got home around 2:30pm Monday.... after Lance had missed all his classes and I had missed my appointment.

Despite it's hairy ending my weekend was lovely and I can't thank Lance enough for giving me a much needed break from life :) It was wonderful to be able to be with my family and not have the responsibilities of a mom and a wife. I think everyone needs these little breaks once in a while.

So thanks to my family and my dear husband, who was Mr. Mom for a week.
I love you all :)

hOw fun!! seriously! I am so happy for you. I love one on one time with my family... Lincoln and I usually end up splitting up for a while when we visit Utah, so we can get the one on one time with our families...

That's so great that you got to have a little "alone" time. It's always nice to get out without a stroller and a few diaper bags! Yay for Lance for being such a great husband and dad!
