As December peeks it's head out from amongst the colorful leaves of November here in Austin I think of many things.
I think of how beautiful November has been. The colors here in Austin have been breathtaking and I am SO grateful to be able to enjoy them without the threat of snow on the horizon.
I think about how blessed I am for so many things... my little family, my parents and sister, my home, my country, my testimony of the gospel, the opportunity to be here in Texas for a while, a fireplace, my health, an education, books, food to eat, holiday smells... the list is endless.
I think about what to give people for Christmas. I LOVE Christmas shopping. I find it is getting harder because Beth is old enough to pay attention when Lance and I are talking about gifts or when I am looking at things for her. I guess I'll have to do some shopping at night when the girls are tucked away in bed and Lance is nestled in the couch with his law books.
As with most people, I love the holiday season. Now with kids old enough to get excited I find it even more fun. I am thinking of crafts to do as a family, treats for Beth and I to "make and take", places to go to see the lights and festivities, and ways to incorporate the true meaning of Christmas into our home this season.
I think about going home to Utah this year. Last year my family came to Austin for Christmas, which was fun and different, but not "Home for the Holidays". I am looking forward to playing in snow, seeing Temple Square all lit up, wearing sweaters and coats, and drinking hot chocolate every morning because I am actually cold. I am looking forward to watching old movies with both my family and Lance's. I am looking forward to eating all the fabulous things our moms make and of course sharing the girls with our families (a.k.a letting them babysit for as long as they will :)
I hope each of you look forward to the holidays as much as I do.
Enjoy the stress, the bustle, the headaches, and just the special feeling of the season.
