To save time and effort instead of recapping our whole holiday vacation to Utah here are some things we learned along the way...
1- Flying with 2 sick kids (Beth had Pneumonia) is NOT recommended... throw up may occur and WILL completely cover whoever is holding the throw-uppee (in this case it was Lance :)

2- After living in Texas for 3 years 50 degree weather is COLD!! I don't even need to tell you how we felt about the 40's, 30's, 20's, and teens.
3- No matter how much I pretend to support Lance in his misguided BYU fanship it is ALWAYS good to see BYU lose in football :)
4- On the other hand it is always GREAT to see Utah win... and come away with the #2 spot in the nation!!
5- I find that I never feel as guilty as I should for "not being able to make" some Christmas parties... I won't reveal which ones I am happy to miss for obvious reasons.
6- Talking about politics and law school stuff is NOT fun and interesting at your friend Christmas party for most of the people there.
7- I always spend way too much on Christmas presents and find that spoiling your kids is easier than you think... although for as much as I spend it never seems to equal the amount I give??? Why is that?

8- A good old family Christmas party with your extended family is a good idea. Worth planning, worth hostessing (with help from Mom), and worth having every 15 years :)
9-New Years Eve will always be the same... food, games, and trying to keep the kids asleep while the teenagers make noise.

10- No matter how smart you think your 3 year old is she doesn't understand that even though the kitties lick themselves to get clean doesn't mean you can lick the kitties to get them clean.
11- Skiing is harder than it looks... but fun when you get the hang of it... also a VERY tiring sport.

12- Going to lunch with friends sounds great... but the time flies when you are in town for a limited amount of time and the opportunity ends quickly.
13- No matter how many suitcases you bring with you you will NEVER have enough room to take all your stuff home with you.
14- Layovers are NEVER worth the few hundred dollars you save by not flying direct.
15- No matter how old and mature you are you WILL be bugged when your youngest sister gets a laptop and accessories for Christmas.
Spoiled???

16- Seeing how much your kids love their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins make you want to live closer all year around.
17- Even though the Christmas vacation was awesome and you LOVED seeing your family and friends again it is GOOD to be home in your own house and be the boss of your own agenda again.

18- The Burtons are the best friends ever for picking us up from the airport, hauling our stuff home, having dinner ready for us when we got home, and watching over our house, plants, and mail. Thanks a million.
So we are back in Austin and hitting the ground running... Lance has this next week off, thankfully, before he starts his final semester, yea!!!! We both have long lists of things to get done this week (Safety proofing the house for a VERY mobile 1 year old who likes to eat EVERYTHING except food, flu shot boosters, fixing things around the house, Dr. appointments, updating 72- hour kits, etc.). We hope to fit something fun in along the way.
Have a Happy New Year this month and good luck on those New Years Resolutions... We can only hope we are all skinnier, more spiritual, and better mothers next year, huh!!

Well said! I was thoroughly entertained by your holiday recap, and I think you hit all of our resolutions in one sentence!
Glad you had fun, I'm like you, it's fun and busy to visit family and friends, but there's nothing like your own home.
Love it!
I have to agree with you on most of the things you posted! However I am going to post a video of Lance singing and the boys playing guitar hero! That was a blast!!
Amen to #6. It was really great to see you (wish we could have had a chance to see your cute kids)! I hope everyone's feeling better, and I agree it's always nice to go back HOME. You're a great friend, and I sincerely wish we lived a little closer - which, odds are, won't happen in this lifetime :) - but I want you to know I really admire you and your family.
#10 is my favorite. but #18 makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. :) amen to the resolutions in a nutshell!
It sucks that we couldn't get together. However, I completely loved being part of your blog! Love you guys!
I totally feel that same. Well put.
I am SO glad you are back to blogging. I've missed you! It sounds like you had a very entertaining (and busy) holiday. Is Izzy one already?! She is so cute and so big! She's still supposed to be a little baby. And I always love Beth stories. What a funny girl.
This was fun to read, Rach. Oh, and sorry about the barfing on the plane... I'm not sure it gets much worse! Glad you had fun at home.
