It's official...
We will be staying in..
Austin, Texas !!!
Long story short...
Lance's firm in Dallas had a main partner come take over the Austin office and because Lance is already working for them part time in the Austin office he was given the option to stay. So instead of being one in eight new associates in Dallas he will be one of a handful starting in Austin and helping build up the Austin office.
My feelings about this change were mixed at the beginning. I had planned on moving to Dallas and over the summer had found things I was looking forward to living with in Dallas ( the nice library system, the great museums, the "cultural" events, the Dallas and Fort Worth zoos, etc.). I have always pictured us leaving Austin after we graduated and moving to a new city, new house, new life, etc. After much thinking, weighing the options, praying, and consulting the Man Upstairs we have finally decided on AUSTIN !
The reasons being:
- better career move for Lance
(he won't be such a little fish in a big sea in Austin)
- I get to keep my friends :)
-We know the layout of the city
- We can search for a house while we stay in our rental house (one less move)
- We really do love Austin and the people who live here
- People who live in Dallas tell us we'd be crazy to move there when we had the option to stay here... (not a strong argument but one nevertheless)
- We feel good about it
Now we are kinda at a stand still though. We are anxiously waiting to hear when Lance's start date has been pushed back to. Because of the lack of work right now most of the law firms have bumped their new associates start dates back. We have heard it may be anywhere from October 1st- January 1st. Luckily Lance will still be able to work part time for the firm until his start date, which is a blessing. Because of this "small detail" in our lives we are unable to officially look for a house, a family car, and taking the next step in our future. So for now we are checking out neighborhoods, looking at flooplans online, walking through model homes, looking at "family cars" online and craigslist, talking with people about schools, and honestly just enjoying the fact that we have one less major decision to make now that we have settled on Austin.

Such a huge decision to make, but it must be nice to finally be at the point to be making it! It This "figuring out your life" stuff is hard!!!
Wow that is exciting! I love it when big decisions are finally made so that there is one less unknown...another plus I think of staying there is Austin City Limits! Have you ever been? It's a dream of mine...we'll have to come visit!
I am glad you guys can stay in austin! It is nice to know where you are going to be for the next section of life!! I am glad lance can work part time until his official date! I am sure that makes life a lot easier! happy house and car looking!
Congratulations! I bet you're glad to have a HUGE decision behind you! I would live in Texas again if I had the chance. Especialy Austin, I hear it's a great place to live! Have FUN looking for a house. Yay!!!!
