Do any of you ever have the thought
"Please not this week..."
I try to be social. I like being social. But sometimes I just don't want to be.
Sometimes I just want a week with nothing in it but what I want to do.
No baby showers
No playdates
No book group
No card night
No meetings
No taking dinners to anyone
No watching other people's kids
No doctors appointments
...
...
...
Sometimes I don't want to worry about anything other than:
My own kids
My own meals
My own book
My own agenda
My own interests
...
...
...
I can see after reading this I may not get any calls for a very long time. Don't take it that way. The fact is I think we all feel this way at times. We can get so caught up in doing all these other things, whether we actually LIKE to do them or feel OBLIGATED to do them, that we don't make time for ourselves. I may be different in that I do tend to stress about things that most people probably wouldn't... like making it to something that started at 10am, or hosting a playdate at my house, making 10 beautifully crafted cards for an exchange with 10 other women who scrapbook for a living, going to a baby shower for a woman who already has 3 children and feeling the need for my gift to be $$$ and darling...
Sometimes I just want to give it all up...
Stay home...
Bake a chocolate cake...
And watch American Idol with my girls...
Is that to much to ask???

Just do it! We all need to hibernate sometimes. The problem is, you have too many friends. See, when you're socially isolated like me you don't have to worry about that stuff.
Don't worry Rach, I don't think anyone's going to be offended, because we all feel that way sometimes. Oh, and I LOVE the new car!
I am just impressed that you do all of that in the first place...
Oh I don't :)
I feel this way OFTEN and feel bad when I turn down stuff...but I don't need ANOTHER place to go, another thing to stress about...I'm glad you feel the same way sometimes!
Also, sweet car. And glad you get to stay in Austin! I know it hasn't gone by fast for you, but it seems like you guys just moved the other day! We still miss you! Good luck with the time up to and including the bar! We'll be thinking of you. :)
That is NOT too much to ask! I take one of these days at least once a week.
Love you!
