As with most people I've noticed I haven't had much to blog about lately. Don't fool yourself into thinking it's because we are having the time of our lives here in Texas in the 105 degree weather either.... 'cause we're not.
This past month we have been spending our time:
*swimming
*BBQing... as to not heat up the oven (aka the whole house along with it)
*reading (The Thorn Birds, The Host, Emily of New Moon)
and
*Planning our trip home to Utah
This past week...
* Izzy climbed/ fell out of her crib for the first time. She obviously didn't want to go to bed and after Lance and I heard a "thump" we peeked in to see her climbing up into her rocking chair... she had been crying the whole time and that continued after her "escape". I removed the bumpers in her crib and that seems to help... although it makes her crib look like a little prison to me with the bars.
* Beth swung her hand through our back door window pane. I was in the other room but I heard glass shatter and came running. The first thing Beth said to me was, " I'm going to my room, Mom." I grabbed her and asked what had happened. She kept swiping her wrist and I eventually noticed drops of blood all down the front of her Cinderella dress (her daily outfit these days). As soon as she looked down and saw the blood she lost it! We were really lucky in that it missed all the major veins and arteries and we only had a minor gash on our hands... or wrist.
*My mom flies here tonight. After weighing the decision to drive to Utah as a family I caved and decided to give Lance a couple of hassle free weeks to study for the BAR without us. My mom was nice enough to fly out to help us fly back home. Izzy is at the age where keeping her in one place for any given amount of time is hard and I am MORE than grateful for the help. We leave for Utah on the 21st and will probably be there for at least 6 weeks. Lance plans to drive out the beginning of August, after he takes the BAR.
* I feel like I need to post that my bestest bud, Melissa, is moving back to Utah, ironically while I am in Utah myself. Unfortunately she is moving back to southern Utah. I don't know what we would have done without her and her family. Our kids have "grown up" (ya know... the past 3 years) together and talk about each other constantly. Lance and Leif are kindred spririts and clicked from the beginning as well. It's not very often that your whole family clicks with another whole family. I actually think I'm glad I'm going to be gone so I don't have to do the whole emotional thing when they pull out but I do wish I could see them before they go. They have been in Utah for the past 3 weeks. We cross pathes in the air next week.
So to sum that up...
Bummer!!!
Other than that we're just weathering the heat and planning our time at home. Hopefully we'll get to see some old friends, go camping to Jackson with my family, go through the temple with Lance's sister, Adria, hit some 24th of July parades, and eat some homegrown vegetables and fresh apples, berries, and peaches... who knows...maybe I'll even learn to can a little.

Glad you get to go home. Have fun!
um...did not expect to have tears in my eyes right now. pretty sure I'm ready to go home, but I know that my "home" and everything is changing as soon as I get there. I miss you. can we PLEASE have a phone conversation sometime soon??? sorry I've been MIA- I was on a mountain for 4 days and my parents' internet was down until this morning.
The story of Beth made me laugh so hard! She is hilarious! I'm so glad you are in Utah now!! So, when do I get to see you?!
I can't wait to see you and the girls!!! One week and the kiddos (the term most of Greeley uses to refer to kids :) will be playing together and we can have some fun family time :). 8 months is far to long to go between visits!
