Thanksgiving in a Nutshell...

This year we decided that we would celebrate Thanksgiving OUR way... aka... ALONE.
A big traditional dinner is important to both Lance and I so we agreed to divide and conquer... or something like that.

A run down of our day went something like this:

* Rach made pumpkin pie, cranberries, and stuffing the night before while drinking cranberry juice from a wine glass and listening to Micheal Buble...

* Lance "marinated" the turkey in brine and seasonings the night before

* Thanksgiving morning Lance went to play football with the boys

* Rach cleaned the house

* Rach put the girls in the tub with shaving cream and toys to "get them outta the way"
(See picture)

* Rach set the table... which was so cute but alas, I forgot to take a picture.

* Lance came home and put the turkey in

* We waited

* We waited some more

* While waiting we decided to watch our Thanksgiving movie, "Ice Age 3".

* STILL WAITING FOR THE TURKEY TO BE DONE

* Made mashed potatoes, gravy, asparagus, corn, burned the rolls, and checked the turkey AGAIN!!!

* Finally ate a lovely dinner with turkey that was cooked and moist and wonderful...
only an hour and a half late.

* Watched the UT football game against Texas A & M (We won :)

* Enjoyed divine pumpkin pie with real whipped cream

* Went to bed exhausted but happy and FULL!!

Thoughts:

I LOVE Thanksgiving! I love thinking about all the things I am grateful for. I feel so blessed to have a healthy family, the gospel in my life, a testimony of my Savior and the Atonement, a fabulous husband with a job, 2 high spirited little girls, good friends, food to eat, an education, a warm home to raise my family in, and some little things like slippers, chapstick, lotion, music, books, etc. I love the Christmas season but I try to focus on Thanksgiving as long as I can.

Hope y'all had a lovely Thanksgiving and were able to recognize and thank the Lord for all your blessings.
