I just finished my book, called I Am a Mother by Jane Clayson Johnson, who in fact spoke at my graduation from Utah State. This was an amazing book to me! Lance gave it to me for Mothers Day last year and it was one of those books I read a little bit at a time over the months. When I had Izzy and I wasn't healing as fast as I should be I picked it up again. I read a little each day and was uplifted and inspired by each part I read. I have been trying to drag it out because I have enjoyed reading it so much. So today I unfortunately finished it and feel I should share my feeling on it... that and since I'm on the couch 24/7 what else I can I do but read and type?
Jane Clayson Johnson talks about different aspect of motherhood. She brings her own life into her examples and makes it a truly touching book. It was great timing to have this book on hand after I had Izzy. It made me want to be a better mother to Beth and well. It's one of those books that you want to re-read and mark and remember forever (much like Sheri Dew's No One Can Take Your Place, which I would also recommend).
If any of you haven't read this book I would strongly suggest it. It lifts you and is just a really great book that reminds us of our divine callings... which I need reminding of from time to time.

I have heard great things about this book, I will have to read it. I also loved sheri dews no one can take your place, and I haven't quite finished it, it is also one of those books I am taking my time reading!
I have never read either of those books you mentioned, but I think I'm going to go find the Ogden library tomorrow and see about checking them out (or putting them on hold). Thanks for the book reviews! Or I guess they are more referrels...whatever!
I also loved this book! I got it for Mother's Day too and read it right away. I started re-reading when I was on bed rest, and on those days when I felt somewhat worthless to the rest of my family, I realized that I was doing something incredibly important by bringing another baby into the world. She really puts into perspective the importance of motherhood, which I think as moms we all often forget. It's nice to have someone give you that "pat on the back" that we all need for being great mothers (whether we realize we are or not).
